How does Botox work?
Botox blocks a neurotransmitter which sends a message to the muscle signaling it to contract or tense up. The name of the neurotransmitter that it signals is called Acetylcholine. With the flow of acetylcholine blocked or significantly reduced, the muscle will no longer retract causing the muscle to relax. And that is how Botox smooths and softens wrinkled areas of the skin.
What does Botox Treat?
Botox treats forehead wrinkles, frown lines, and crows feet. Botox can not treat sun damaged skin nor will it be able to correct sagging or drooping skin.
How much does Botox cost?
The cost of a single Botox injection is around $400.00. However, the cost can be significantly higher if you are having multiple sites treated. Most physicians' office can arrange finance plans.
When does Botox take effect?
You will normally see results within 3 days to 1 week; although some have reported seeing immediate results!
How long does Botox last?
You will find that Botox last four to six months. When you begin to notice the wrinkles reappearing, you will need to get another Botox injection for the wrinkles to disappear again.
What are the side effects of Botox?
Temporary bruising, headaches, and drooping eyelids are all reported side effects. However these effects are rare if they do occur and normally last for 1 to 2 days.
