How does Dermabrasion work?

Dermabrasion is a cosmetic procedure in which the top surface of the skin is removed by abrasion or sanding.  This procedure is considered a skin refinishing treatment because it gives the skin a smoother more youthful appearance.

What does it treat?

Sun damaged-skin, scars, dark spots on the skin, acne scars, and also treats fine facial lines and wrinkles.

When does Dermabrasion take effect?

When first performed, the skin will be very red and it takes about 6 to 12 months for the skin to return to normal pigmentation.

What are the side effects?

Very rare are infection and scarring.  You could also develop excessive scar tissue known as keloids.
